Representatives of the EMPOWERED project partners from across the Western Balkans gathered in Prizren, Kosovo, on 14–15 October 2026 for a two-day Project Partnership Workshop dedicated to reviewing progress, strengthening regional coordination and planning activities for the upcoming year.
The meeting brought together representatives of Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) and project partner organisations from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, providing an opportunity to exchange experiences, assess achievements and discuss priorities for the next phase of project implementation.

The first day focused on reviewing activities implemented during 2026, with partner organisations presenting progress and key results achieved in their respective countries. Discussions also covered the implementation of remaining activities and financial planning for the final months of the year.
On the second day, participants focused on operational planning for 2027, including regional and national activities, coordination of implementation schedules, financial contributions and procurement planning. The workshop also provided space for individual consultations and discussions on practical aspects of project implementation.
Beyond operational coordination, the gathering reinforced the importance of regional cooperation, knowledge sharing and a common approach to advancing the inclusion of persons with disabilities across the Western Balkans.
By bringing together organisations working in different national and local contexts, the EMPOWERED project continues to strengthen partnerships and encourage the exchange of experiences and good practices that contribute to more inclusive communities.
Special appreciation goes to PREDA Plus Foundation, the project’s partner in Kosovo, for hosting the meeting in Prizren and ensuring a welcoming and productive environment for all participants.
The workshop reaffirmed the partners’ shared commitment to improving opportunities, accessibility and participation for persons with disabilities, while laying the groundwork for continued cooperation and coordinated activities in 2027.
The EMPOWERED project – Inclusion of persons with disabilities, regional cooperation and development in the Western Balkans is led by Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
