New lift installed in Mitrovica Municipality building improves accessibility for Persons with Disabilities

Accessibility is one of the essential conditions for equal participation in community life and access to public services.

In Mitrovica, a new lift has been installed in the municipal building, providing persons with disabilities with easier and more independent access to public institutions and services. This important improvement represents a concrete step toward creating a more accessible and inclusive environment for all citizens.

The installation of the lift is the result of continuous cooperation, advocacy, and joint efforts aimed at addressing the real needs of persons with disabilities within the local community. Through the engagement of civil society organizations, local institutions, and project partners, an identified barrier was transformed into a practical solution that will have a direct impact on the everyday lives of citizens.

The activity was implemented with the support of the EMPOWERED project and the Municipality of Mitrovica, while PREDA Plus Foundation played an important role in advocating for improved accessibility and inclusion at the local level.

Beyond improving physical access to the municipal building, this initiative also sends an important message about the importance of equal access, dignity, and participation for persons with disabilities. Creating inclusive communities means ensuring that public spaces, services, and institutions are accessible to everyone without barriers.

The EMPOWERED project continues supporting concrete local solutions that contribute to greater accessibility, stronger inclusion, and improved quality of life for persons with disabilities across the Western Balkans.
